Once again we have come to that part of the year where there is festival after festival. One of the most colorful festivals that celebrate the god in female form is Navrathri. This festival of the goddess is celebrated in different ways all over the country.
When there is a festival new clothes are an obvious part of it. Navrathri style and dressing up has its own charm with the Durga Puja, Dandiya, Bathukamma, Golu and many others. This is the festival where women meet each other and spend time with their loved ones and celebrate the goddess with dance music and gaiety. So here are our picks for you to look trendy yet traditional this Navrathri.
1. Dandiya / Garba Parties
Dandiya and Garba is an integral part of the Navrathri celebrations. We can see Dandiya parties everywhere. As much as it is super comfy to dance in jeans wearing the traditional clothes or a Chanya choli leaves everyone spell bound. Channel your inner Aishwarya Rai or Deepika Padukone and rock the traditional wear for all your Dandiya Parties.
Want to try something different? Well worry no more. Try these beautiful peplum Kurtas with Dhoti pants to keep your style quotient high. Even a short Anarkali Kurta with a Dhoti pants will give you equal oomph and the quirkiness that you desire.
Remember the following too when you are going for a dandiya party.
Try not to leave your hair open as it will get too messy by the time the party is over. Wearing flats is a smarter option than heels especially if you are going to dance there. Take out all that lovely oxidized black metal jewelry you have and team it up for the Navrathri attire to make it complete.
Ok. That is for Dandiya. What do you wear when you go to a Pandal for Durga Puja or if any of your friends and family call you for Golu or Navrathri Puja?
2. Durga Puja
For Durga Puja the obvious answer is the white and red saree that is traditional to all the Bong beauties. Who can forget “Dola re” of Devdas!! Wow!!
If the white and red with the heavy jewelry is not your cup of tea you can always wear a Bengal cotton with the big Bindi and long chain and shell bangles.
3. Other Navrathri Pujas
For other Navrathri Pujas silk or silk cotton sarees will work the best. Try to wear bright colors especially yellow, green, red and try avoiding black. In the same way Bandhini sarees and sarees with Kutchi work blouses also would be in line with the festival.
If you are still confused don’t worry. An Anarkali set or a crop top skirt and blouse would surely do the trick. Trying out a half saree for the festivities would also give you a thumbs up from everyone.
The spirit of Navrathri is to celebrate the three forms of Goddess Shakti. So go ahead!! Start your shopping right away!! You have only ten days left for Navrathri!! Remember  to spread joy and happiness this festive season!!
