The wedding season will soon be upon us, and you have got to choose an ideal way to make a fashionable arrival at the reception of your bestie. If you’ve decided to wear a sari and have made up your mind about the look you want, we shall want you to halt right there. Instead of being the run of the mill lass draping your saree the same old way, why not go a little chicer than the usual. Pant style sarees have made waves on the fashion weeks this time, and it is now left to you to flaunt that look. Here’s how to wear the pant style saree in various ways.
To wear the pant style saree, you would need a pair of jeggings, palazzos, leggings, crop tops ethnically embellished or plain, silk cholis or mirror worked ones (only if the saree is plain) and heels for the feet. You don’t have to spend much time draping the pant style saree. Start by pleating one end of the saree as you would want to drape it, pinning it up with a pin and tucking them into your pants at the center. The other end of the saree can be draped as a chunni across the shoulders in various ways. When that is done, here’s where you play with the draping and the pleats to create various looks that enhance your look.
1. With a Nehru coat
Instead of wearing a silk blouse, you could wear an ethnically embroidered Nehru coat or a sleeveless embroidered jacket as a blouse. Balance the look with a self-coloured sheer or lace saree that has a metallic border or embroidered border. The neckline can be high or low, as per your convenience. Complete the look to add more height wearing strappy heels or pumps. Hair should be tied into a chic ponytail and the makeup should be minimal with a hint of gloss on the lips.
You can go traditional with the look, amalgamating your Marathi styled draped sarees with dhoti pants. Something on the lines of what Bollywood diva Sonam Kapoor shows us. Sheer net and lace blouses with a cotton gray and black saree, and a chunky statement neckpiece completes the look. Drape the pallu over the left shoulder and tuck it into the right side on your waist, wrapping it behind the back. Carry a tote bag and wear pumps or heels in black for the tantalizing effect to come through.
3. High necked blouses with saree pants
For this look, you could borrow moms kanjeevaram sarees that have chic work done on them in metallic tones. For the bottoms, wearing jeggings or dark tight fitting skinnies would be best to balance the look. High neck blouses are a must over which the pallu of the saree would be draped; tucked secure with a saree pin, and falling loose over the shoulder at the back. Makeup wise we would keep the look with a healthy blush to the cheeks, strappy heels for the feet and sultry eye makeup is a must.
4. Wrap queen saree pant styles
To make an impression at the office parties, you could be the wrap queen wearing saree pants. For the look, you would need a pair of shimmer toned pants, along with the same shade of saree wrapped and draped around it. Complete the look with a chunky neckpiece, wristlets and a tote bag in shimmery tones for company. Heels for the feet are a must!
