Just as handlooms are being revived in all their former charm and beauty, Anavila and Vishali who’ve been known for their gorgeous designs of desi-wear showcase some of the lovely handlooms and khadis that they weaved out for the Amazon fashion week. Painted with some really earthy and basic colours like white, off-white, grey and black, these handloom sarees, dresses and kurtas were among the best of the outfits that took over the runway.
Plain and simple handloom sarees made out of khadi cotton were among the best of Anavila and Vishali’s collection.
Beautiful, long, khadi kurtis that were worn over palazzos which were also made out of khadi showed us how we can use an age-old fabric to make some classy contemporary clothing.
Some of these kurtis that were displayed had a modernistic twist to them in the form of capes added to them and things like that.
When these handlooms were inter-woven with a bit of shiny fabric over them, they looked lovelier than they already were.
Trends to watch out for : Wearing anything khadi seems to be a trend of late and when worn with the perfect blouse, they can make for a unique style statement of their own. As for the khadi dresses, it won’t be long before the fashionistas of the country own and flaunt them just because they were that elegant!
